Does anyone know if you can see the Harbor Fireworks well from Piers Park? Do they let you into Piers Park at night?

Yes and yes.
The park has fantastic views of the inner harbor. Other parts of the East Boston Waterfront are less pleasantly landscaped but would offer equally nice views.

I'm jealous-- that sounds like fun. I keep missing all of the fun Eastie holidays. Alas, alack. You can't be in two countries at once! (unless you're in C4RT)
Actually, this year, Piers Park was all locked up. Some people were hanging out on the street, and some were scaling the wall into the park. We decided to go watch from the old MBTA pier on Lewis St. It was a good view, but we didn't know exactly where the fireworks are lit from. Now that I know, I think the place to be is over by the Hyatt, so you get the skyline in the background. Next year...
Highlights of the day/night:
- Short Film "Festival" at MFA
- new ICA building was free for the day
- John Doe at the Orpheum. He played Poor Girl and even did Silver Wings at my shouted request.
- Saw the prior resident of my apartment, Eilen Jewell, play music at Emmanuel Church (we still get her junk mail)
- Dr. Brown's traveling poetry show
- I was hit in the eye with falling fireworks ash. Thought it was a bug at the time, but then saw the black stuff on my cheek when I got home.
