Ah, technology.

Remember the 80's? "The sound of a computer's floppy disk drive will be as closely associated with 20th Century computing as the sound of a computer dialing into the internet," said Mr Magrath.

I have a geek story about floppy disks. When I was in college, floppy disks cost about $1 a piece. At that time, the hippest distribution of Linux was called "Slackware". It was about 30 floppy disks worth of data; you downloaded it one-floppy-at-a-time. But, rather than shell out the $30 for blank floppy disks, my friend Mark and I bought IBM's OS/2. OS/2 cost $14 and shipped on 30 floppy disks, which we used as blanks. That $16 savings paid for like 3 trips to Taco Bell. Mmmm. Taco Bell.
