Let's have a War!

My favorite flip flop: "We have a clear vision on how to win the war on terror and bring peace to the world." -- George W. Bush July 30th 2004. "I don’t think you can win [the war on terror]. But I think you can create conditions so that the - those who use terror as a tool - are less acceptable in parts of the world.” -- George W. Bush Aug. 29th, 2004.

This is even better than his flip-flop from the 2000 cycle, "I don't belive in nation building". As it's about a month apart. Couple of reasons I find the flip-flop accusation of Kerry a little bogus: a) there's usually no examples to back it up, for instance, the abortion flip-flop: Kerry has always voted pro-choice, NARAL gives him a 100% voting record. b) Bush is just as flip-floppity i) nation building: which demonstrates that as times change, we need to re-think and re-evaluate our goals, maybe even _change_our_minds_ ii) Dept. of Homeland Security: At first opposed it, now takes credit for it iii) The 9/11 Commision Report: At first opposed it, withheld information during it, now is rushing to implement the recommendations iv) An intelligence czar: at first opposed giving this director budgetary control, now supports it v) the $87 billion Iraq funding bill: the White House threatened a veto in the early stages, this isn't any different from Kerry's initial Yea vote and subsequent Nay vote, is there really any doubt that Congress _would_not_ approve funding for the military in Iraq? I thought this thread was about Lee Ving. I'm all like whatever.

Was Lee Ving ever a politician? Maybe even Mr. Ving had a better public appearance than this: [img:c970f8ce73]http://a1040.g.akamai.net/f/1040/759/1h/pic.infospace.com/:6:_1_K73TKK04NLYNHS__vzn.dsl/RNC22308310226.jpg[/img:c970f8ce73]

I had to look up Lee Ving on imdb.com to figure out Mike's post. Maybe they should have just stopped making movies after "Repo Man", it definitely covered all the bases. Just can't win: Edwards is too pretty and Moore is too ugly.

true that. true that.

Michael Moore looks like he's on Hollywood Squares in that photo. Lee Ving's best role was Mr. Body in 'Clue.' Shit ruled.

'Clue' was an excellent movie. Matrin Mull is hard to beat. But, that doesn't change Bush's flip-flopping, again 2004.08.31: (source) [quote:3657849930="Bloomberg"] ``We are winning and we will win,'' Bush, 58, told members of the American Legion, the largest U.S. veterans group, in Nashville, Tennessee. The U.S. ``will stay on the offensive. We will win by spreading liberty.''[/quote:3657849930] Does spreading liberty mean getting 9.6 million (of 9 million) eligible Afghanis to register to vote? Or ceding large portions of western Iraq (and Baghdad) to insurgents?

"We meet today in a time of war for our country, a war (i.e., the war on terror) we did not start yet one that we will win." -- George W. Bush, August 31st, 2004 "I don’t think you can win it (i.e., the war on terror). But I think you can create conditions so that the — those who use terror as a tool are — less acceptable in parts of the world." -- George W. Bush, August 28th, 2004 Can we win this war on terror? Or can't we? Policy shift or did Bush "misspeak?" Find out in Bush's speech Thursday night, LIVE. The suspense is killing me. Genius...

2 can play at this stalemate endlessly (Although I Dont see much point in it): Kerry Voted For Authorization To Use Force In Iraq. (H.J. Res. 114, CQ Vote #237: Passed 77-23: R 48-1; D 29-21; I 0-1, 10/11/02, Kerry Voted Yea.) In First Dem Debate, Kerry Strongly Supported President’s Action In Iraq. KERRY: “George, I said at the time I would have preferred if we had given diplomacy a greater opportunity, but I think it was the right decision to disarm Saddam Hussein, and when the President made the decision, I supported him, and I support the fact that we did disarm him.” (ABC News, Democrat Presidential Candidate Debate, Columbia, SC, 5/4/03) Kerry Later Claimed He Voted “To Threaten” Use Of Force In Iraq. “I voted to threaten the use of force to make Saddam Hussein comply with the resolutions of the United Nations.” (Sen. John Kerry, Remarks At Announcement Of Presidential Candidacy, Mount Pleasant, SC, 9/2/03) Now, Kerry Says He Is Anti-War Candidate. CHRIS MATTHEWS: “Do you think you belong to that category of candidates who more or less are unhappy with this war, the way it’s been fought, along with General Clark, along with Howard Dean and not necessarily in companionship politically on the issue of the war with people like Lieberman, Edwards and Gephardt? Are you one of the anti-war candidates?” KERRY: “I am -- Yes, in the sense that I don’t believe the president took us to war as he should have, yes, absolutely.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 1/6/04)

Posted by tgl on 2004-08-31 21:27:38 +0000
R. Giuliani: He even, at one point, declared himself as an anti-war candidate. And now he says he's pro-war candidate. source, RNC 2004.08.30 But Giuliani is claiming that Kerry is claiming he's [b:d58e224074]Pro[/b:d58e224074]-War. Which is it the right wants to stick on him? Are they flip-flopping on their accusations? Kerry supported (and continues to support) the disarming of Saddam Hussein, through force if necessary. He obviously believes the Adminstration botched the diplomatic lead-up to the war. He obviously believes the Administration is botching the aftermath of the war. Where is the flip-flop? Another Bushie Flip: What's wrong with force against N. Korea or Iran? The evidence is harder (they got nuke potential) and the threat greater (they are closer or already have it) from these two rogue nations, the other ends of the axis of evil. Why aren't we pressuring the U.N. with the same urgency?

It all continues to prove how Kerry does NOT flip flop. He has learned from experience and wished Bush had led an honest war...

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_083104/content/eib_interview.guest.html Does Limbaugh get paid by the GOP? You know, it actually doesn't bother me that Bush has changed his mentality towards "The war on Terror" TWICE in the past 48 hours (his main campaign theme?). What disturbs me is that he has no idea what's going on with it...

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Bush's Press Secretary, Scott McClellan, just lied for him today: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/08/20040831-5.html This is really making me sad...

[quote:9dc5957310="dawnbixtler"]Does Limbaugh get paid by the GOP?[/quote:9dc5957310] You had to ask? Re: Press Gaggle by a) I love that the title of the page is "Press Gaggle by" b) Which lie are you refering to? --> "Afghanistan is no longer a safe haven for terrorists;" [i:9dc5957310]Well, if you are refering to Afghanistan being limited to Kabul proper.[/i:9dc5957310] c) Ken Herman is a riot! "Is it true the President thinks the American Legion is the one with the designated hitter? (Laughter.)" Also: "Do we expect anything -- any sort of attacks tailored to Iowa listeners or Pennsylvania listeners later -- ethanol, perhaps, in Iowa? Once again, the press release area of the whitehouse.gov website is fantastic entertainment.
