As far as Im concerned, any substance made using barley has a good chance of turning out excellent. Beer would be another example, yes.

Not the barley in the soup. Not sure it's really "barley" by the time it makes it to my barley pop.

A favorite memory: International camp in Roskilde, Denmark in 1986...walking along the road back from the pier where I dropped my camera into the North Sea, never to be seen again, I picked some barley from the side of the road and ate it. Still can taste the deliciousness!

You can make 'shine out of anything that will ferment, corn's just the cheapest, so that's what it usually was.
