Awesome. "...it turns out we are actually a nation that thinks like a 14-year-old girl."

Ditto on the Awesome:
"Morality based on aesthetics is pretty shallow. "
wait, you mean wearing Doc Martens is just as bad as eating Mcdonald's?
What would Moby and Morrisey say?

I stand corrected.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to run away from all the militant vegans who want to put a Moo Shoe up my ass.

I'll just anticipate the "leather is OK" line from the vegatarians: The number of animals slaughtered solely for their hide is miniscule compared with those slaughtered for food. Indeed, most hide is a byproduct of the food industry. If we only slaughtered animals for hides, the environmental impact would be significantly less. The decrease in demand for animal products would make it viable to do the slaughtering in a more humane fashion than the factory methods now employed to produce that quarter pounder with cheese.
For what it's worth, I served Niman Ranch pork on Sunday. Which is what us Subaru-driving, Whole Foods-buying, conflicted liberals purchase to make us feel better about animal suffering and environmental impact.

What if you feel animal guilt but aren't near a Safeway or a Trader Joe's?

I like leather...and am not a vegetarian because of the animals. Thinking all vegetarians are doing it because they think it's more humane is a gross generalization.
Oh, and I test drove a Suburu last night. Thinking about buying one. Going back to test another later. Had a lot of fun seeing what kind of deal they would give me on a car I didn't want yesterday. Wonder what they'll do now!

All gross generalizations are false.

Generalizations are gross.

Which is why I mentioned the environmental impact of raising animals for food. There are also public health impacts (animals fed byproducts of the food rendering process is commonplace and gives rise to infectious diseases like Mad Cow).
As I see it, the humane treatment of animals is the weakest argument to avoid meat consumption.

Let Customer Service know wherever you shop.
I've never seen spareribs at Market Basket, anyway. Am I not looking in the right place?
