"Sad and angry." is the very first sentence, correct. That third sentence, on the second line of the piece, first sentence of the first real paragraph seems a little tone-deaf.
Would have been bad anywhere in the article. Sayin'.

Maybe he coulda said 'fell down dead' or something, but I think he used the words he did to convey the utter shock of it.
Simmons had this article up within an hour of the announcement -- it's raw and conveys his feelings about the man well.
