Check yr L Ron Hubbard witticisms at the door.

I played the above in its entirety last night - holy shit!

I had heard his version of Burt Bacharach's 'Look Of Love', but the one I knew so well must have been some kind of bastardized less-than 5 minute radio edit. On Hot Buttered Soul I got the song in its 12+ minutes of glory. The backup band the Bar Kays are insane. The wah wah dirty funk electric sound of this is stunning.

FWIW: The 2nd track "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic" is the source material the Bomb squad got the rolling/looping piano sample used on Public Enemy's Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos on 'Nation Of Millions'

wow.

We got to the Bar-Kays during "classic rock revue" last Sunday, Hot Buttered Soul didn't make it out.

"classic rock revue"

is this a regular activity that occurs during the dinners y'all occasionally have?

If so, I'm jealous.

Call me a blasphemer if you must, but Huey Lewis and the News has always struck me as an excellent bar band.

(BTW: I would never in a million yrs imagine a Stax/Watt artist conversation could so quickly veer into Mr, Lewis lol - the power of RSN)

I think it was the meat that did it, honestly.

Hoping to do Heart of Rock N Roll at Karaoke tonight (at Razzy's, $8 pitchers). Although, it did recently occur to me that this song is the inspiration for the hardest button to button.

Jack White and Huey totally need to start a side project.
