I'm heading up to the Rockwood, ME vicinity next weekend, so I changed the "Current Conditions" block. However, it's been a rough day, eh?

Even the Wilshire is retreating from it's record high. (HT, NPR's Marketplace).

I was wondering what was up with the Maine weather.
Almost time for the AL East to re-appear!

Down over 400 points right now, or ~3.2% so far today.... which is an improvement from 3 o'clock.
Market jitters due to... China?

I couldn't believe when it was down 500 at one point

It was the 'pooters! Note that the DOW really did drop over 500 points, just not as fast as the reported index indicated.

Stocks rise and drop. It's the nature of the game, and teh marketplace. It's all pretend money anyway, until you cash in or out. Just another form of gambling...away our retirement savings.

...and they _still_ lost $16 billion last quarter!
AAPL is down 5% from the beginning of the week. Although, it's been trending down ever since the iPhone announcement.

I wish. That might mean I would have enough to buy that Subaru I had my eye on, and pay for the plumbing issues stemming from my washing machine's rinse cycle causing water to flood my bathroom from the base of my toilet. Good times. Good times.
No, I have investments, in the market, that have been taking a beating since well before this dip. Stuff I should've taken out ages ago. Also have money doing zero for me in my IRAs and my savings account. Not exactly a savvy investor. Or an engaged one. Totally my fault, not the market's.
I also have some private stock in a community bank.
It's good to spread it around, especially if you're still driving the same car for 14 years.

My 1.39 shares are doing pretty well.
