If you like it raw and heavy, you need this in your life. Mulatu Astatke is a heavyweight African musician, but you can read crax poetics for the thesis. Get this and hear what all the hubbub is about. The four cuts on this EP range from rattling JB-esque funk ("Emenete(1)") to maniacal afrocuban jump up ("Ebo Lala(2)") to angular minor key instrumental ("Yekitir Tezeta(3)") to the Mod Squad-meets-funky Steel Band "Asiyo Belema(4)." These are all previously unreissued tracks from the '70s, but the pedigree's irrelevant, this 10" is pure fire and with the limited run status of all Soundway releases, recommended that you pick it up sooner rather than later.</i>
