Good Luck, Jerry Trupiano!!

Tonight marks the first baseball game on the radio of the season. As someone who listens to the Red Sox games on the radio more than watching them on TV, I, for one, am going to miss Jerry Trupiano and his "Way Back!!" call (even when it turned out to be a fly ball short of the track). When he first came to Boston, I thought he was too much of a generic Midwestern announcer. But he grew into the role and after a while for me, Joe and Jerry were as familiar (not necessarily as good) as Curt Gowdy, Ken Coleman or Ned Martin. As good as the new guys might be, it will take me a while to get used not having "Troop" call the games.

Not me. Trupiano is a jerk. I didn't care for him reminding me about the personal defects in today's modern baseball players. I like Castiglione's soft touch, even if he is from CT.

Oh, I'll miss Troop. He was terrific.
