Freeman, Mannix Repeat Titles
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (April 1) - Kris Freeman (Andover, NH) and
Taz Mannix (Anchorage, AK) collected their second U.S. titles in
48 hours Sunday, winning the gold medal in the ski marathon - the
men's 50K and women's 30K classic technique races - as the U.S.
Cross Country Championships concluded in 40-degree, partial
sunshine. It's Freeman's 10th U.S. title, his fourth this season
for the Type 1 diabetic, while Mannix - completing her first
season on the U.S. Ski Team - won her second championship.
