Just one listen so far (during Q...). Is this Dizzy Gillespie's first Afro-Cuban album? I don't know. Is it the first Afro-Cuban album?
Remember when the bachelor music was all the rage, ~5 years ago? No disrespect to Esquivel or Martin Denny, but Gillespie does this cool jazz thing right. Really smooth horns, great rythms. I don't feel comfortable talking about "arrangements, but evidently, the second side is better.
It's possible that I'm in love with "A Night in Tunisia" and can't get enough recordings of it.
