Pantsing

Yesterday morning I was all pumped to wear several of my new purchases to work. I laid out my goods on the love seat in the living room, and decided on a blouse, a blazer, and a pair of khaki pants I already own. Unfortunately, no matter where I looked I couldn't find the pants. Not only that, I couldn't find my second pair of khaki pants. I had taken both to Florida at the beginning of March, and had worn them to work since. I knew I'd washed them, but no matter where I looked, they were nowhere to be found. Finally, I gave up, after searching drawers, the closet, the other two closets, stacks of folded things, and in every room in the house. I still wore the blouse and jacket, but settled on a skirt that didn't match, striped knee-high socks and cowboy boots. I topped it off with a half-up hairdo with a burgundy ribbon. It sort of worked. When I got home, I pigged out on Trader Joe's papadum chips then did yard work for 2 hours until I decided my lungs couldn't take it anymore. I kept looking for the pants, knowing they had to be in the house somewhere. I felt like I was losing my mind! I started thinking I'd left them in Jacksonville, even though I absolutely remembered wearing them after that trip. I gave up again, started getting ready for bed, and decided to look through the clean laundry I'd stacked in my laundry basket in my bedroom, all of which needed to be put away in drawers. And there they were. I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. There's got to be a lesson in there somewhere. Maybe it's put your stuff away.
