On your Pulitzer! (The first of its kind for improvised music, btw)
Now get out there this summer and blow some young Bonaroo concertgoers' minds!

For a guy who can't give any thing more to the craft, this is a great capstone.

Why can't he give any more to the craft? Because he's done enough already?

I'm glad Ornette is finally getting the recognition he deserves. Charles Ives, my other favorite artist of the 20th century, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1946 for his Third Symphony 42 years after it was written. Ives gave half the money to Lou Harrison and he was quoted saying, "prizes are for boys and I'm all grown up."

I'm currently reading Faulkner's 2nd Pulitzer winner: A Fable. It is difficult to get through. Starting to understand what the hell he's talking about, but it's tough. All about trench warfare in France in WWI. Hoping to finish it before May so I can move back to 21st Century briefly before hitting a few more early works.

I guess what I was trying to say was that after pretty much redirecting/influencing the way music went from the mid-20th century on, what more could he have possibly given to the craft? I mean that as a huge compliment.
