dumb speech

Maybe I've hammered Rich a little too hard about his disdain for public personalities being quoted in the press about topics not related to their public sphere. I can't work up the same head of steam, even if I disagree with the personalities' viewpoint. For example: Jenna and Barbara Bush at the 2004 RNC. A favorite part is when the audience supposedly applaudes the death of the Bush hampster. The 'Sex in the City' joke is pretty weak, stunning, actually, considering it's floated at the Republican Convention! Keep in mind the the '(LAUGHTER)' parts are a little overstated. My reaction is more of embarassment for the Bush daughters rather than a "Crips, jokes are better left to comedians!"
