Adventures in Yard Work

Yesterday evening, after going to the opthamologist (who said my eyes are in great shape, hardly any change in my meager glasses prescription, but I have unusually dry eyes with minor alleries), I decided to water my very thirsty plants I interred on Sunday morning. As I was connecting the front hose, two neighbors met me after their walk and it turns out that one of their husbands is my lawnmowing fairy! Apparently, he really likes the riding mower they have and does his best on my lawn when he thinks of it, and when it looks like it needs mowing. We chatted for a bit, then I got to watering. Looking up, I saw a tiny woodpecker having dinner on one of my tulip poplars. I stretched the hose towards the back of the house, not wanting to have to hook up another hose there to make life easier, and attempted to whip the hose to get some slack and ended up whacking my right hand into one of the rusty carport supports. I am lucky that 1) my hand didn't break, 2) the support didn't break, 3) the hose stretched where I wanted it to eventually. Hopefully there will be no adventure today.

On Sunday, I found the molted skin of one of my snakes. It was sticking out of my garage door weatherstripping. I pulled it out and saved it in a box for my niece and nephew. Pretty rad.

we used to find tarantulas and scorpions on our back porch in Lewisville, Texas. all I get in Monson MA are flys and bumblebees and an occasional pungent skunk. boring.
