Should I...

Hubby says that given Ovlov's age, unless it's a complete pile of rubbish it's worth putting some love & care into it. And he says that the welding should be done by someone who's very reliable, considering the area which is being welded. But then again, hubby loves old cars. I say lease, and damn the consequences! :o)

Ovlov runs great...for now. But her insides are a bit shredded from age (leather is like a mosaic with rubber grout), and because of the hole in the wheel well, there is some mildew indside the car in the backseat. Also, the wheels probably need replacing, along with the tires and brakes, and the underneath is pretty rusty. As much as I love her, it's pretty much time to let her go. Fourteen years is LONG relationship with a car. Just with they made them like that now.

OK, hubby has revised his opinion. As a man, he likes to think of himself as a car-owner. As a sensible man, he recognises than leasing may be more prudent financially. (yes!) I always think of my Dad's advice - a car is never going to be an investment; if you must buy, don't buy new. But hell, all I own is a bicycle and some hiking boots.

Leasing is like buying a pair of shoes that you dont want to wear because you dont want them to get marked up.

I love married men who think they speak "our" language. :o) But seriously, leasing a car is like paying a monthly fee to have a new handbag - which you can trade in for another new handbag whenever you feel like it. Chloe this year, Prada next. It's genius. You never wear out the handbag, you just take it back when you're sick of it or you want a new color. At least, that's my perspective. Then again, what do I know about cars? Handbags, on the other hand...

Looks great, except it's the H6! The cardinal rule of buying Subarus: stick with the four cylinder.

Looks great, but only because it's the H6! The cardinal rule of buying Subarus: the four cylinders can barely get out of their own way.

After test driving the H6 in Boston, there was no question that I had to have one. Now the only problem is that I have to watch my speed. It's easy to accidently go 50 in a 30 with this engine.

I read that, too...but getting onto the highway with the H6 is way less scary.

Hooray! Congrats! Now that you have the LLBean edition, you'll have to take up kayaking.

Don't know if I'll be able to squeeze my fat ass into one of those! But is sure does fit those cushy leather seats! Took my grandma to lunch today in it; she was very impressed. Didn't even need my help buckling the seat belt! I have truly arrived.

Ovlov RIP. I loved that old car. Congratulations Miriam.

Thank you. Know anyone who wants to buy her?
