Blitzen Trapper

Jeff Breeze from the Middle East peeped me to this band Blitzen Trapper. Great fun stuff. Not sure how much I'm going to listen to it in a month. But for right now it's a-ok. Very "Wowee Zowee"-ish Pitchfork posted their video, I couldn't find it on youtube, so peep the video here. My favorite song, FWIW.

The video is bullshit. The song however...

So I was in Saugus when I watched SNL last weekend. I think it was a repeat, the guy from Scrubs who also produced/wrote/directed/acted-in/or-something Garden State was the host. During one of the sketches, an amusing bit about Prom Theme selection, a joke was made about how the soundtrack to Garden State is like a Pitchfork wet dream, or something to that effect. I chuckled. Pretty interesting stuff, esp. if they can pull this shit off live. The singer sounds a little too Perry Farrell-ish for my taste, but it works in the context of the song.

Come on now. Even Perry Farrell sounded 'too Perry Farrell-ish'.

Have you not seen Garden State? Great flick. Not perfect, but it reassured me that Natalie Portman is an actress. Decent soundtrack.

Met him at the Sonse once -- exactly what I expected from him (and I mean that in the nicest way possible).

No, I haven't seen it. Wait... now on the Netflix Queue.

The scene when Natalie Portman brings Zach Braff to her house was magical. Nothing crazy but expertly done. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

Saw Blitzen Trapper at Great Scott last night. They did do "Devil's a Go-Go," and it was heavier than the recording. Nice guys. Chatted with the organ player about their signing to Sub Pop and self-releasing stuff. Aparently they're back next month.
