I go with the West Bay Stir Crazy™ popper my got me as a gift from Tarrr-Jay. A bag of popping corn is like $1 at the grocery store and lasts a month or longer (and I watch a lot of movies, you know?) Drop a dab of vegetable / soybean / sunflower oil, a cup of kernels, plug in and spread butter pats over the top reservoir. Set timer for 6 minutes. Steam does its thing with the butter pats and evenly distributes. Salt liberally (no neocon NACL for me, thanks very much) and you are pretty much there. microwave is ok, but I only do that when I'm super lazy... (like tonight? Hey I've got 4 excuses: 1. The Red Sox are on 2. Maddie Nigs is asleep 3. I like inflicting illness on ConAgra folk 4. The Red Sox are on)

When I lived in Somerville I stove-popped in a real pot. Now I rock the 100 calorie packs at work when I remember to bring it.

Used to use a stockpot, but the "SHOWTIME STOVETOP POPPER" is the bees knees. IMHO.

One time some guy and I popped 50 pounds of popcorn in 2 lb batches in a giant wok. We use an air popper at home.
