Just goes to show...multi-tasking is bad for your health. Seriously, though, that's not cool.

In a safety class held at Cambridge Center for Adult Ed. an acquaintance of mine was told to talk into your phone late at night, even if you're pretending, as it gives the appearance you can readily ask someone for help, and will deter predators.

I was told a similar thing, and another good idea was to have the local police number as the first number in your cel phone book--for example, I spend a lot of time in and around Famous Large University, so I have FLUPD's # listed as AAAAFLUPD--they're tapped into the local system, and can frequently respond faster than the city police. Not planning on ever actually using it, but still. Also recommended was the ICE (In Case of Emergency) number in your phone book--in case your struck by an idiot driver/attacked by monsters/otherwise rendered unconscious or impaired.

I figure the numbers in my cell labelled Mom and Dad are good for emergency contacts.

I guess. As long as they don't just ring mom or dad.

Why not? They can at least contact someone who lives in town. I also have most of my doctors in there. Eventually, someone will get to the local one...actually, I should make a note about who my internist is...and pulmonologist. Thanks for making that thought train go!
