Gone Baby Gone
Well, it feels a ton more Boston-ish than 'Mystic River' or 'The Departed'; could just be the smaller budget or maybe some vocal coach finally told a cast that the Boston "accent" is fairly subtle.
Shot real well, esp. Tobin Bridge and gritty interiors of homes. So-so sound work, best part being lackluster original acoustic guitar spots. Decent thriller with great resolve that's almost unpleasant. Nice "youth as a moral compass" theme. Odd, yet not inventive voice over (3 or 4 times).
Ben Affleck poses little threat as an actor, but he's OK behind the camera. Easy role for Casey Affleck, driven but stoic. Shouldn't win many awards.
