attention all audiophiles (specifically vinylists)

i need a new cartridge/stylus for my 1983 technics SL-B200. there is a shop in harvard square that has them for $40. is there anywhere i can find a better deal? also need a ground wire, but shouldn't be hard to find.

$40 seems about right for a retail store. You might be able to get them for 30-35 online.

I'd get the cartridge from the shop in Harvard Sq.. I've run into online sellers who will take your order, but not actually have the product in stock and it's not worth the aggravation to save a couple of bucks. I've never taken a turntable apart, but it appears ground wires for Technics are generic. http://store.djhardwares.com/tetugrwi.html http://www.pstc.panasonic.com/Epartr/PartsList.asp

yeah, i kinda figured it would be an easy replace on the ground, i think it is even a plug-in job. bought turntable for $10 at flea market, just trying to get it operational.

I bought a $25 yard sale turntable, and I just use a piece of copper wiring for a ground--works fine, and you might already have some lying around.
