His brother Beau narrated Shoalin Ulysees Kung Fu Monks in america The documentary has music from John Zorn, featuring Mr. Bungle / Fantomas / Trio Convulsant member Trevor Dunn (he played last night @ the Middle East w/ the Melvins, another show I missed - ) . originally was on PBS. All the Monks, originally from China's Shaolin temple grapple with pizza in NYC, over zealous type A arrogant doctors in Las Vegas (the scene where the MD takes the monk to Hooters to worship in his temple is pretty priceless and sad at the same time), and monks doing kung fu outside the Houston space museum. I'd highly reccomend. http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=70000185&trkid=10474

White Squall. I hate coming-of-age movies, and disliked this one for all the usual reasons, but I happened to love Jeff Bridges's performance in it. His utter relaxation is sometimes easy to mistake for Costnerian woodenness, but one senses in his case that there's an actual person behind it.

I don't want to have to pull rank here, but as the caretaker of the best Jeff Bridges Collection any of all'y'all have ever seen, I'm going to have to lay this down: Cornerstone films: The Big Lebowski The Fisher King Tucker: The Man and His Dream Tron Thunderbolt and Lightfoot The Last Picture Show Interesting additions: Seabiscuit K-PAX (remake of Starman?) Arlington Road Starman (his only Oscar nomination, I think) King Kong (remake) Shouldn't have been made: Simpatico Blown Away Jagged Edge See You in the Morning (thanks, Dawn) Available in my collection, yet I haven't brought myself to watch: The Last Unicorn Stay Hungry Films I haven't seen, which completely discredit my opinion: The Fabulous Baker Boys The Morning After (don't remember it, but I think I saw it) Cutter's Way -=>J

Don't make me defend "Jagged Edge."

6 "cornerstone" films? Are you implying that Jeff Bridges' career is built like some sorta Star of David? I liked Simpatico.

Jagged Edge and Simpatico are significant, since, without them, there isn't much point for the Horse Film wing of the Collection (with Seabiscuit) -=>JB the JBCJ

Terry Gilliam and Jeff Bridges together again! Last time they gave us a gift called "The Fisher King"....

Henry Rollins Show Episode 7: Special Guest Jeff Bridges... BTW: the slim content of the half hour is really fleshed out on the web. all the bands so far (Sleater Kinney, Ben Folds, Jurassic 5, Black Rebel Motorcycle club et. al get an additional song performance and an interview not seen on tv) I am glad I stuck with the show - It is bot improving and growing on me with time. the Bill Maher interview last week was painfully short, but still good and thought provoking (yes this is still Null Protocol :) )

The Morning After w/ Jane Fonda. So bad, it's good.
