Oh, sweetpea!!!
Have you been fitted with a tooth-guard? I know a few people with them - I think they're about 300 smackers, but they're custom-fitted, good for life and keep you from griding your teeth in your sleep. I understand they're a little annoying for the first few nights, and a little unromantic (out for smooching, back in for sleeping, repeat as necessary), but it's a small price to pay to avoid further cracking, no?
When can I buy your art to (partially?) underwrite your dental expenses? Do you ship to the Netherlands?

I agree with pamsterdam--high thee to a dentist for a mouth guard! According to The Dentist (aka my sister's boyfriend), the over the counter high school sports ones are no good, since the soft plastic actually encourages grinding. The hard plastic ones are unsatisfying to grind on, so you'll grind less, too.
Personally, I love my mouth guard. Remember to soak it in white vinegar for a few hours once a month to keep it shiny and clean (in addition to daily scrubbing).
And may I put in a plug for dental insurance and prophylactic care (this goes for the rest of you ridesiders as well)? Periodontal diseases has been linked to increased risk for heart disease and stroke, as well as low birth weight babies. And having your gums scaled hurts like hell. I don't even want to think about gum grafts.

Take out your fucking retainer and put it in your purse!

I got a night guard five years ago from the dentist in Boston that put in the crown. I do forget to wear it occassionally, but am pretty religious about putting it in before bed. Of course, I wake up frequently grinding my teeth anyway. Two weeks ago I was trying to eat something in my dream and woke up gnawing unsatisfyingly on the hard plastic retainer in my mouth.
On the plus side, I found out today that even if I did have our crappy dental insurance plan, the dentist I have here doesn't take it. The dentist and hygenist both commented on how nice my teeth are; and I'm bound and determined to keep up with my dental cleanings from now on! Gum surgery runs in the family, so I'm very careful not to brush in the wrong direction. Have been accused in the past of brushing too hard, though.
I would happily ship art to the Netherlands! Not sure how much that runs, though...might be as much as the painting itself. Do you have a favorite?

I think my brother, sister and mom have all had gum grafts.

So far, seeing my doctor has been the cheapest thing to remedy, with a the drain clog a distant second (thanks in large part to the $50 coupon in the yellow pages). I've applied for a grant to the Leibowitz Foundation for Indigent Children have been given tacit approval.

I'm partial to this one:
but I assume all the ones on your Flickr account are sold already...
I was also really struck by the small amount of photography I've seen of yours. Am I seeing all yr stuff on Flickr?

I really wanted dental surgery to correct my Bugs Bunny teeth when I was 11, or at least braces. I was so jealous of the kids with orthodontics. Until after lunchtime...

Playing trumpet with braces wasn't all that. Frequently I had internal hamburger lips - despite the cases of non-effective wax dollops I was given to smear over my choppers before a jam session...

Yeeouch!
Our new secretary had the Bugs Bunny teeth correction surgery when she was a kid, and she says it hurt like a MF, so in retrospect maybe I didn't miss out on too much. Apart from, you know, looking NORMAL. :o)
You got great teeth, DU. The hamburger lips may have caused some emotional scarring during those tender early teen years, but your smile makes up for it, right?
PS - I totally need pictures of you wearing braces and holding your trumpet. Preferably hanging from that bear again.

Ooh! You picked one of my absolute faves! It's hanging in my office right now. It's pretty small and would probably make the trip to your house relatively unscathed...given the correct packaging. It's a little bit delicate. Has some of my best media experimentation. I pooled ink with acrylic varnish which resulted in spiderweb crazing in a few spots (the dark blue square, and the blotches on the yellow). Only one of my Flickr paintings has sold. Two are on loan (only one of which I'm not interested in selling). This was not on sale at my show, but I would be happy if you had it. If you're serious about buying it, we should talk about it over email.
Definitely don't have all my photos on Flickr...art or otherwise. I don't take that many pics these days, despite my love of photography. Going to try to post a few pics from G lib's visit shortly. The Graceland photos are priceless. Did she mention that we stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel? No joke.

I'll gmail you. Although I feel guilty about taking your office decor away...

She may not have to come all the way to Amsterdam - an old high school chum is getting married in Maine in May, and some other feller is gettin' hitched in August, plus there's the Xmas/New Year's visit...

Whoop! Whoop! Potential NYC visit with my mom in May...I know we'll be able to figure it out. Still owe you measurements.

Send me your measurements, girl! :o)
I can always pre-PayPal you if you plan to leave it with a mutual friend.
