All-purpose Stanley Cup finals thread...

... in which Tommy has a conversation with himself about hockey. Is anyone else out there paying attention to the NHL finals? (What's that you say? There's a 'Basket Ball' game on?) Great game tonight, finally. Pittsburgh basically got shut down the first two games, but tonight was an exciting up-and-down game with good chances on both sides. Fleury looked great in net for the Pens. Some huge hits by Brooks Orpik, a GHN* favorite. Even Hal Gill had a half-decent game. The mics picked up some grade-A trash talk by Jarko Ruutu. Basically, anything that happens in this series will make me happy because it will be the first Stanley Cup since 2003 won by a city that actually deserves an NHL team. It's the first finals in 10 years featuring two teams that I actually like. * My buddy Kyle and I ran a website (www.greathockeynames.com) a long time ago that used user opinions to rank... well, hockey names... based on how great they were. An idea since STOLEN by Maxim, The Sporting News, and The Hockey News. The very top spots were occupied by guys like Hakan Loob, Dave Snuggerud, and Miroslav Satan. Brooks Orpik, though, was up there pretty high himself.

Here's hoping Jarko Ruutu wins some kinda award so I can use his name in a crossword.

Lots to like with the series except no Canadian representation. Always liked the Redwings. Good hockey team for a hockey town. Ridiculous logo, that I've used many times. Pittsburgh has Bubba Crosby, who very might be the best athlete in North American sports right now... Freakish.
