Wow... a totally whatever restaurant, but it will be missed. Many a hangover was fought over some eggs at that dump.

Insurance scam?

I don't think so -- half of the block burned down, including a cleaner and another restaurant.

Which other restaurant? Just out of curiousity...
Grecian Yearning was a little too eggy for our household. Amy's not vegan, but eggs freak her out conceptually - she also fears fish because "they breathe water" which is apparently "totally disgusting" (this statement is generally accompanied by a full-body shudder, bless her little heart). Bagel spots were safer hangover-busters in my Comm Ave days.

The little joint to the left of the Grecian also burned down -- I think it was a Korean place.

The place with the fast-food style decor (possible Korean), or the place with the fish tanks (more likely Japanese)? I get the order of businesses mixed up on that stretch.

I never went in, so I'm not sure -- you can see the awning in the photo at the way top of the thread.

This posted on universalhub by a (self-described) firefighter on the scene: "The Korean joint should be back shortly unless they use this as time to make improvements." Apparently, it was just "severe cosmetic damage."

That would be the fast-food looking joint. Cheers, mate.
TFC, thanks for the info from the (self-described) firefighter. I reckon it could actually be a positive thing for the Korean joint, given his 411 - would make sense for them to remodel a bit.
