Replacements Immersion #6 -- "Tim" (1985)

Record is here. Released October 1985 on Sire Records. #183, Billboard Music Chart, 1985. One of the greatest rock videos ever (without which Pavement woulda floundered):

I love this album. Two masterpieces in a row. I can never decide if Tim or Let it Be is better. I think it's whatever one I listened to most recently. Little Mascara and Kiss Me on the Bus are both perfect songs. Great lyrics galore on this one, especially on Bastards of Young and Here Comes a Regular. Lay it Down Clown and Dose of Thunder would be the only two tracks on this one I would leave of, if I were in charge of a Replacements "best of" collection. There's still a lot of great stuff left on the next 3 albums, but this is the Replacements at the top of their game.

Where do we put random Westerberg observations? (like solo stuff opinions? 'Tim' thread doesn't feel right and I'm too lazy to create a new thread right now. Should I wait for the end of the Replacements stuff, or should I just have at it?)

Being totally lame here, but this album cover has always bothered me, to the point were I never bought the album.
