Upcoming shows at the Mideast, etc.

Polvo is at the Mideast downstairs tomorrow (Friday) night with Birds of Avalon and New Radiant Storm King. Boris, Torche, and Clouds are there on Friday, July 11. I'll be at both shows (still have to get ticket to Boris, tho), if any of y'all feel like joining me. Also: reminder that Silver Apples are at T.T.'s on Monday night. Haven't bought my ticket yet, but still plan on going.

No disrespect to you, TFC, or to the band in question, but I remain amazed that Polvo has gained any modicum of relevence since their breakup -- band was *so* marginal and now everyone's gushing about 'em. Can a Stricken For Catherine reunion be far on the horizon?

Hahaha...I'm kind of surprised, too. I'd gotten into them when I found out that Helium's bassist was in the band. Hadn't listened to them since college, but when I saw they were playing, I was like ?!?!?!?! Checked out their stuff again, and strangely it's even better now then it was then. I hardly expected every single paper in town to write all of these gushing stories about them, though. (Godfathers of Math Rock? What?) Nostalgia sells!!! It was interesting to read that they reformed to play in All Tomorrow's Parties. The 90s are back...though in a more subtle fashion than how the 80s returned.

Wake me when the Bailter Space reunion shows happen. Still might do the Silver Apples, but it'll be a game-time decision. TFC: call me on Monday.
