you know, i've never actually been to a red sox game - a certain friend with whom i watched the playoffs/series last year swore we'd go before i left, but that hasn't happened. this is an interesting prospect; what do standing room tickets involve? also, how gauche is it to join someone in line at, say, 4/4:30 or so? (i have a 2:30 appt and no idea how long it will go....)

Standing rooms are general admission: stand in the back or try and take vacant seats. Around four or so a dude comes around and gives out numbers to th line: "You are number eight" or whatever. Coming by at 4 or 4:30 should be early enough to get it, I'd guess.

Crap, I didn't even make it to my beach. Couldn't land in Melbourne due to fog, requiring a stop in sydney to refuel, thus missing my flight to perth, and arriving 10 min. too late to get on the next flight, resulting in my missing the flight to Broome, and having to wait for the next day's flight. Arrrgh. Nothing like spending 72 hours in transit to make you hemorrhage money. On the plus side, I finally actually spoke to my hostess in Broome, and the young men all seem to be quite attractive. (My flight to Perth had what appeared to be a semi-professional football team on board. As pamsterdam would say, yum.)
