Key Points from the Last Presidential Debate (Aught Eight)
While I may be biased, I think my take on the debate was correct (I won't name names if that's OK with you, pchippy): McCain tanked. The bristly, snippy, angry, whiny, faux-hurt voice might be great for his hardcore supporters, but it's not going to do anything for the people he needs to win this election. Ironical that the one GOP candidate most resonant with independents throughout the Primary season is so repugnant to them now.
Some curious statistical claims from last night:
McCain: "Fifty percent of small business taxes are paid by small businesses"
Moderator: "We're importing more than 60% of our foreign oil"
Also, at one point I thought McCain claimed that Obama was "helping fart a terrorist organization." Which I thought was out of line. The man clearly cannot just fart out a terrorist organization... although that would be a great party trick. M had to point out that he actually said "FARC". I gotta brush up on current events in Latin America, apparently.
Just so odd coming from a candidate who picked a running mate with absolutely no travel experience.
This lady could fart out a terrorist organization.
