In Color 1997

Cheap Trick aparently re-recorded their classic 1977 album "In Color" with Steve Albini twenty years later. I guess it was never released. Enjoy.

They totally ruled Boston at the Paradise in '97. One of the best shows ever!

TFC, Are you talking about the time they played three straight nights? Each night, they'd play one of their albums all the way through, and then an encore of the hits from the rest of the albums. I went to the "Heaven Tonight" show, and yeah, they totally ruled. I have no idea why I didn't go to all three. Shame on me.

Yes! I went to the "In Color" show. At the time I was agonizing over which one to go to, and now, like you, I'm thinking missing the other two was a huge shame.

L: I guess that was '98, tho, not '97.

'98 seems right. I think I was living in Lynn at the time of the show. Oh, so that means I only went to one of the shows because I probably could barely afford the one ticket. I also saw Cheap Trick at the Garden in 1980 when I was in 3rd grade. Somehow I talked my mom into letting me tag along with my older cousins and my cool aunt. First rock show ever. I don't remember anything about the show except that it was really loud and Rick Nielsen kept throwing picks into the crowd. And my cousin Laura was IN LOVE with Robin Zander.

It's a good thing we saw them before the 70s came back in full effect. I think tix to those Paradise shows were something like $20, give or take a few. When I saw that they were playing at the Somerville theater in the early aughts, tix were around $50, I think. Would have loved to see them again, but not for that price! Davis Square was very different that night - 70s-esque motorcycle gangs were swarming the place.
