(L)C'mon, nothing for the all vinyl playlist? I thought for sure I'd get some kind of response...(/L)

Most impressive, considering I don't know many of these bands. Heavy on Discord and Touch and Go labels

I listened to 3 of the Dismemberment Plans albums yesterday-- apparently I don't have (!).

However, I don't understand the Talking Heads/D Plan comparison mentioned in dyedon8's immersion threads a while back. Can someone explain this to me?

I found the entire library of 7"s @ WMUA (they are a bit scattered but things like Killdozer / Minor threat / Warmers / etc. jumped out at me and HAD to be played :)

I did this as a promo for WMUA's first ever vinyl fair that occurre last Saturday. We are doing another one in the Spring and I hope I can be a more active event organizer for that one. I just lugged around pa's and djed a bit on this one (but I brought Maddie along, so that little bit can turn into a lot when multi-tasking w/ a 4 year old...)

I was at In Your Ear records in Harvard Sq the other day and they were talking about the vinyl fair. Someone from the store had gotten there late...but was still able to find some Sun Ra LPs for cheap that go for $200. Stunning!

My best guess is that the D Plan was probably influenced by Talking Heads, without actually sounding like them.

I mentioned the bleeps and bloops on 'Remain In Light' being reminiscent of some of the stuff the Plan did.

And I didn't mention this, but I will here: no matter how much I listen to either Talking Heads or 'Change', I don't feel like I'll ever get into either with the intensity of ardent fans, no matter how many chances I give either of 'em.

Triple lorbering @ this point: the WMUA Killdozer gem was indeed a cover of Janet - Miss Jackson if you 'Nasty'.

We are a part of the rhythm nation!

I couldn't stop doing the erratic arm motions when I heard it in JP Licks getting coffee after lunch today.
