a very boston new years
as promised, i will be back in boston from 28 december 2008 to 3 january 2009 for new years/my birthday/all the associated shenanigans...but, since i'm a bit out of the loop now, i'm wondering:
*what's going on for new years?*
on my end, i'll be organizing the usual pre-party dinner outing to celebrate the night i got sliced out of my mom's body - but what's going on after that? are there any shows, parties, afterparties...?
things of rideside interest i know to be happening in the vicinity:
monday 29 december: PAMN!
tuesday 30 december: karaoke at charlie's
(also making tuesday my birthday - heh.)
wednesday 31 december: ___________
let me know? :)
Tuesday 6 January: Kareoke at Charlie's
Wednesday 7 January: ______________
Thursday 8 January: Rockin' out in Worcester
Friday 9 January: _________________
Me too!
thursday 8 january is my first day of class for the winter term, but i'd rather be rockin' out in worcester. teehee.
perhaps all us ridesiders-in-exile should try to coordinate overlapping summer returns? (the more mayhem the merrier!)
you know, i think i've only been to maine twice...once for an annual illegal outdoor party in the middle of nowhere, and once when my friend P. and i accidentally got abandoned outside a walmart at 3:00 in the morning somewhere also quite near the middle of nowhere.
the whole second act of my undergrad thesis took place in portland, but i've never been - durrr.
You're welcome to join!
how long does it take to drive up there? i'm trying to pull a dinner reunion thing together in the city, and had some tentative brunch stuff planned for new year's day, but there's a possibility that could all be shifted around....
We are offering:
1. A huge pile of records, heavy on schmalz
2. Mattresses/floor space galore
3. A fire in the stove
4. Some eats
5. Too much booze
6. More fresh air than you can stand
7. A yodelling wake-up call
8. Some friends and good conversations
9. A cozy little former school house in NH in which to mark the new year without watching the ball drop on TV
I fly back on the 6th - I know what will cure the jet lag and culture shock - KARAOKE!
