I'm in Utah!
Skied Alta today. Rented equipment.
Line Prophet 100 boards. Scarpa T1 boots. Not sure which bindings, shiny & red with compression springs in the cables.
Story on Line is that they're from Vermont and were recently acquired by K2. K2 just acts a distributor. Really fun, fat (100mm waist!), boards. My first time on skis like this. I think they're 171cm or some ridiculously short number. Keep in mind that I still own a pair of 210s.
13" in the Wasatch overnight. We had a late start, arriving last night around 10:30pm, and staying at a hotel downtown, then having to get the rentals.
Made runs off all the major lifts. Best snow of the day (for us) was off the Sugarloaf lift before lunch. Had a couple nice turns in the powder. Even though most runs were skied out, it was still lots of fun to carve it up. Once I got used to the equipment, it was a real pleasure to sink a knee and crank out the turn, knowing that the boot+binding was going to hold the ski steady, the edges were good, and the snow was very forgiving.
To complete the day, I had a Crown Burger. Sister to the Apollo Burger. It's a cheeseburger with a hunk of pastrami on it. The doorman here at the hotel tells me that there was one family-owned burger joint that did this pastrami thing. Then there was a fight, and now there are two local chains. I had my first and second (and last) Apollo Burger on MLK weekend 2002.
