1st week at work, Waltham

Lynn --> Waltham 2009-01-12 09:15 65min. 2009-01-13 07:20 70min. 2009-01-14 07:05 55min. Waltham --> Lynn 2009-01-12 17:30 90min. 2009-01-13 16:30 70min. On the plus side, the Wolfgang Puck/Bunn/Auto-Pod coffee service is decent. There's even a "Flavia" espresso-like dispenser. Private office: Bourbon and Scotch fit nicely in the cabinet of my Herman Miller desk unit, H.M. Mirra chair, window faces east. There's a quiet, content, suburban-office-complex feeling to the whole affair. Can I get a Mathworker to comment?

Never say "die."

A Mathworker is in the house! What do you want a comment on? Drive times? Are you taking 129 to 128? I used to volunteer at a tutor-type program in Lynn, and when I went there from Natick, this was my route: - 9 east - 128 north - Pike east - 1A north If 1A north was congested, I'd take Bennington St. to Revere Beach Blvd. It took me about an hour. But, I leave work at 4pm. Takes me about a half-hour from Union Sq., and there's a couple places for sale. Sayin'. Or, did you want a comment on quiet content suburban office parks? In that case, I find that once I'm inside the building, the location doesn't matter. Except of course for the on-site cafe which used to be good but is now uniformly disappointing. WE MISS YOU CHEF NEIL!

Yes, 129 -> 128. The office is off Trapelo Rd near 128, so, using the Pike might be a wash. I should try at least once. 4pm seems to be the time for a reasonable commute time home. It's not much longer then taking the train to Boston, and walking to Cambridge; it's just so frustrating when the traffic slows (and stops). The train stopped twice in three+ years. A Metro-West lunch meetup is in order. Most of my reaction to the environment might be the private office. I was in a partitioned, not-quite-cubicle space beforehand. I like my office.

Congrats on yr move - sounds like a good gig. sorry about the traffic. re commute: WZBC / books on cd / tape from the library? (apologies to mahatma chani) P.s. Some Killdozer and assorted Death Metal at the ready might not be such a bad idea either.

Oh, I didn't realize you were so far up. Maybe 2 to 16? Or is that insane? Some good lunch options out our way, including Joan & Ed's. I'm not sure if "The Chat" is still open or not. You will, of course, need to join us for Hot Dog Week, which will be after the weather warms up sometime.

When I last car commuted (ca. 2000), I was very fond of war pigs at high volume as a frustration aid.

Oh, also... is 129 jammed on your way home? It was for me. If so, you can go up Lynnfield St. from the rotary to Bartholomew to Lynn St. to Euclid. This worked like butter for me.

It's usually worse in the morning. I took Jeness-Range-Den Quarry-Cedar Brook today. I'll head up to Bartholomew tomorrow, looks simpler and less neighborhoody.

Actually, I'm very much attuned to "traffic on the 3s" now. The car has a CD changer... in the trunk! I should load it up.
