Baseball, rideside style!

So, the league is up... $20 entrance fee, paid to me, respectless. Winner take all. I will hold all the money and reward winner at end of season. Please, everybody pay in a timely fashion, so i can tuck winnings away and not think about it. Head to Head style, on Yahoo! (they now offer keeper leagues, so we can keep some of our players next season if we keep the league.) I have set the basic scoring categories and roster sizes. I would definitely like input on this. I think 9 batters, 9 pitchers and 5 or so bench spots and 2 Disabled List spots would be good. i would also like to keep scoring to 9 or 10 categories each for pitching and batting. Please take a look over the league rules and give me your input. I don't like redundant scoring, like earned runs and earned run average. i also don't like to reward players who are really good at only one thing. (example: Adam Dunn may give you 40 HRs, but he will also give you 200 Strikeouts, so i like to have balanced stats.) I also like to throw in something like no-hitters, or hitting for the cycle. if you have a pitcher throw a no-no, that should be worth something. I have about 6 (out of 12) people confirmed, so anyone who wants in, just sign up at yahoo sports. If more people want in, we can expand the league size and shrink the roster size. I will put any changes to a vote. League info: League Name: Rideside Baseball, Inc. League ID: 196400 Password: smoltzie Custom League URL: http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/rideside_baseball Good luck to all!

Oh yes, I almost forgot. League is set up for Live draft starting, Thursday March 26th at 10:00 AM. Picks are due every 15 minutes. As with the league rules, this is open to change depending on people's schedules.

I think some of the categories in pitching and hitting are a bit much -- as it stands now, you can 'win' a category by having a guy get thrown out a lot (caught stealing) or end a lot of innings (gidp). How about: Batting: H, HR, R, RBI, BB, AVG (or, alternately, OPS), SB Pitching: W, CG, SV, WHIP, ERA, K, HLD In one league I play in, there's extra points for hitting for the cycle, grand slams, no-hitters, stealing home and assorted other oddities. i love that stuff.

good, keep suggestions coming. i just picked them (somewhat) arbitrarily to set up the league. i can edit as we get closer to draft day. i as well love scoring oddities, that's why i suggest no-no's and such, we'll keep them to a minimum tho'. however, i believe you lose points for having the most GIDP's and such, but i can agree that those aren't the best stats to have scoring.

If it's head-to-head, I feel like the categories we score should be strong and reward-based -- most home runs, highest BA, whatever -- rather than being won through omission ('you grounded into less double plays! you WIN!').

Bump. I just registered.

Me as well - for 2009 I polled Maddie and she thinks a good baseball team would be called the 'Boo Cha Chas'. I've learned not to argue with four year olds - it's counterproductive. Can someone email to me (ladewtangclan[at]gmail[dot]com) the snail mail address where I need to send the check? Much obliged.

Is there any type of automated option if we are unable to make the live 03/26 Draft? also - just a 'bump' for someone to email me at ladewtangclan[at]gmail[dot]com for the snail mail address I can send the $20 to. thanks, the DÜ

If you don't make a selection within your 15 minute window, the system will make a pick based on your ranked list. If you don't have a list, it will use the overall player ranking list.
