Job chaos!
There's an 80% chance my company is moving over near I-495, near Marlborough and Westborough...aaaaaagggghhhh!
Any local job leads are appreciated, thanks.

Ah, preemptive commuting vitriol. I know it well.

This is a convenient move for about 1/8 of the people working here. Madness! But I guess the bottom line demands it, and it's easier than layoffs. Who knew that my job would become my life? Certainly not me!

And thank you for your empathy!

Dammit, that stinks. Maybe we should have a job-hunting and job-applying afternoon this weekend, followed by some nice Cabernet?

This job could be your life... sounds familiar...

Real names be proof.

It's not so bad out here. Rte 9 is the new Mullholland Drive.

Worcester's cool in my book, though haven't been there much. If a move is in the works, I'm thinking Worcester or Lowell. Lowell wins due to walkability and lack of tolls. It's mainly the idea of working in a soulless highway office park that's getting to me, though moving beyond Boston/Cambridge, if necessary, will be tough.

If you're looking for a car....

Hmmm...maybe this weekend. The following weekend (or some evening next week after work) might be better. Though I was looking at craigslist today to see what's available these days, and it's really, really skimpy. If I could live off of working at a coffee house, I'd do that in a second.

You could always stay with my parents...

You're selling the VIBE?!?!?!

The Sunfire in the driveway...you can't have my Vibe.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, though if I move I'm looking to live in a more urban setting.

approved.

Ohhh, I didn't realize it was still there. I'll keep it in mind. Assuming that I'm staying at this company, I'll be car-shopping in August.

I'd like to mount a defense for soulless highway office parks...

Rural is nice.
For Easter we went out to G Lib's parents' place. The neighbors' sheep had just given birth to a couple of the tiniest, cutest lambs you ever saw.
We wanted to bring one home as a pet for Lila.

The scale is tipping towards Worcester.

I'm officially freaking out about this.
Posted by mr. mister on 2009-04-16 20:50:36 +0000
don't stress it's bad for your arteries. It is an hour drive to Somerville from Worcester. 45 Minutes to Allston doing 80. It's cheaper. A lot cheaper to live out here. The commute to Marlboro is not bad. If you can find a place in Marlboro you might be better off. If you want to drive to Boston to chill with friends a lot. Then it's 30 minutes to Somerville or something like that.

Next weekend I'm away, but this weekend... :o)
I'll text ya.

Anecdotally, the job market is improving.
Maybe http://strnds.com should start hiring. I was certainly thinking about this during both my hour+ commutes today.
