Cheney's Flip-Flop: No War in Iraq

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/connelly/192828_joel29.html "Once we had rounded him up and gotten rid of his government, then the question is what do you put in its place? You know, you then have accepted the responsibility for governing Iraq. Now what kind of government are you going to establish? Is it going to be a Kurdish government, or a Shi'ia government, or a Suni government, or maybe a government based on the old Ba'athist Party, or some mixture thereof? And while everybody was tremendously impressed with the low cost of the conflict (1991), for the 146 Americans who were killed in action and for their families, it wasn't a cheap war. And the question in my mind is how many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many." This is going to get huge. Edwards already talking about it On Don Imus...

I can't get to worked up about politicians changing their minds. That's one positive for Kerry, actually, it would seem that he'd reevaluate his stance based on new evidence. Maybe that is what Cheney would say when confronted with this quote. What's unsettling is how successful the Bush Campaign has been at protraying Kerry in the negative for something that all politicians do (and should do).

That exactly it. Not that he changed his mind, but that his arguments against an Iraqi invasion are stronger than those for. It shows everyone the GOP hypocracy...

[quote:06e6002800] it would seem that he'd reevaluate his stance based on new evidence. [/quote:06e6002800] and reevaluate and reevaluate and reevaluate.... I liked Bush's comment about Bush not even being there... Kerry could just debate himself.... Can't wait for Thursday....

Cheney debating himself would be better, as his new stance isn't as strong as his old one....

At least Kerry considers every side of an issue. That can't be said of this Administration and Iraq. Apparently, there was no consideration of any possible downside to this war. It was always flowers and candy in the streets.

Listened to some past debate excerpts this morning on NPR (stands for "Radio News for Lefties"). The portion from '92 where Bush 41 describes Clinton as a serial waffler, and quips about turning the White House into the Waffle House, was pretty amusing. C'mon guys! How about come creativity in the choice of smear? The Perot's debate clips were pretty good too, why didn't I vote for that guy?
