The Friday before the election. Great timing, whoever is responsible. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=6663896

yep the republicans have been holding him for weeks (and have been violating his civil liberties BTW) and will probably release him on Nov 1st.... Excuse me, I'm running low on gin soaked raisins... I'll post some more later... _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

Actually this crushes Bush. This is exactly what he didn't want to happen. Saddam stories, OK. Other terrorist stories, like the one with that American kid from the DrudgeReport, OK. But any reminder that Bush screwed up his campaign to stop terrorism, no good.

I seriously doubt this came from the Bush or Kerry campaign. Not sure if there is any political advantage to it. Definitely Bin Ladin's ego at work... "Hey, America! You still suck!"

"If Bush says we hate freedom, let him tell us why we didn't attack Sweden, for example," bin Laden said. "We fought you because we are free . . . and want to regain freedom for our nation. As you undermine our security, we undermine yours." Haven't seen the video yet, must be online by now... The quote about Sweden is almost identical to a quote in the J. Fallows in the Atlantic article, "Bush's Lost Year".

Here's al Jazeera with the transcript. It's a bit mind-bending. Could have been written by Shrum (Kerry's Brain). al jazeera He gets it all in: 1) we didn't attack Sweden (Sven must be breathing a sigh of relief...) 2) we are free men trying to end your oppression 3) Bush is no better than the totalitarian regimes of the Middle East 4) we attacked and Bush was more concerned about a pet goat 5) the Bush family sanctioned election fraud in Florida Regardless whether or not these statements are true, it's obvious that's what people involved in jihadist Islam think. It underscores the point about how we're not going to win this war by bombing people into submission. Wrong tactic.

It makes me frightened to think that the freedom rhetoric from Bin Laden holds more truth then the political speech making by our leaders. My good god. I am so tired of the Bush rhetoric of preemption. Whether you agree with the terrorist methods or motives, our leaders need to at least attempt to understand them. Bush has shown nothing but ignorance to the real situation. Anyone who thinks about it for 5 minutes has to realize that you can not intimidate people who are willing to die for what they believe. You cannot bomb them into submission and good ol’ Bin Laden just keeps making it plain as day. I don’t know to what extent Kerry can do a better job, but at least we know that he came out against the war in Vietnam, which at least shows that he may have the ability to recognize a badly fought war when he sees it. Bin Laden has once again proven that more of the same policy, means a stronger, more driven, more listened to, more articulate, more well reasoned anti American sentiment. Ignorant leadership = population in danger.

RLadew-- Shame on you. You actually think that W is worried about "violating [bin laden's] civil liberties"? Are you kidding? Have you blocked out Abu Grabe AND Guatanamo bay? OR the USA Patriot act? Or completely ignoring the Geneva agreement because we are 'not at war'? Or the ridiculousness of keeping asylum seekers for years in jail? Read up on civil liberties, Ladewtangclan. This is one of W's worst offences. ________________ 100% Riot-Schtuffy!

And the state department just called us, wanting to come into the library tomorrow. [I'm not joking] Do you know how scary this is for librarians because of stupid USAPatriot? ________________ 100% Riot-Schtuffy!

I'm a little disappointed that Kerry's response was basically the title of a Metallica album: "Kill 'Em All". Bin Ladin is interested in dialogue. He should be captured and brought to trial, but the causes for al Qaeda can be addressed in a way other than more violence. Some will say: Appeasing Hitler didn't work! Which is true, but these guys have a different agenda than Hitler. They primarily want us out of their lands, they aren't interested in subjugating the U.S.

Whether or not you want to appease or assault, you should at least put in enough analysis time to get some of the basic facts and logical deductions in. On a humorous note: I saw a good bumper sticker today, it read "Kerry- Bringing full sentences back to the White House"
