Record Turn Out

Insane line in Davis Sq. Easily 500-600 people, I got in line at 9:45 am and left around 12:10. As I recall in '00 there were five people at the polls in Inman Sq. and it might have taken ten minutes.

Maybe the GOP is right: Good damn this democracy, when too many people show up.

I wanted to go with my daddy (as I'm registered at his house) but he wanted to go first thing in the AM and I had a hockey game late last night... so I leisured my way in there around 9 AM, no line in suburbia, and Pop hadn't voted yet! Tsk Tsk.

Great line about having to stand in line to vote: "Is there any other part of our culture where people are asked to do this?"

Um...tickets for major sporting and entertainment events.

there cant be any other explanations for long lines besides racism and vast right wing conspiracies now, can there?

I feel like the luckiest grrl. Went to the S.H.S and stood in that line for about 30 minutes at 7:45. Then I realized I didn't know if they had changed my address yet, and waiting in line at the H.S. for 2 hours to find out that I had to go to another place wasn't the most brilliant of ideas. I went to the Middle School across from the old apartment and only had to wait about 30 minutes. (the line there was longer than I'd ever seen it-- by far). When I got to the front of the line they said "address?" and I told them my old one. They let me vote.

Come to find out you have a grace period of 6 months to make sure that they have your new address. Thank goodness, and good luck to those who haven't voted yet...

You are so ineligble. Lying about your address! If Kerry wins Mass. by one vote, it will be through your fraudulent effort.

Well, the GOP is blaming it on Democrats. I'd have thought you'd side with them.

DMV
Marriage Licensce
Holiday shopping
to name a few....

long lines dont = people discouraging other people from voting.

It just equals resources stretched thin by high demand to vote.

3 hours standing in line to fill out a form?

You can get a marriage license at City Hall in under 30 minutes. I've never spent more than one hour at the DMV (RMV in Mass.), nor do I ever spend more than 10min. waiting to checkout while I do holiday shopping.

Sporting and musical tickets all come to me online. I got my cup of coffee right next to me...

Move to a non city then! As I said before I was in and out in 5 minutes!

I waited for two hours on Fridayt to vote early so I could voluntered my time today. I could not be more psyched with the turnout. Nothing is more important than this.
