how was the Monson Marathon?

Still a little sore. ...Didn't see you out there... ;)
Sunday was a gorgeous day. Bright & clear. The course headed south out of town from Memorial Hall, took a right on Bliss St. then a left after the railroad trestle. We crossed Rt. 32 and did a loop on some dirt roads, then back into town on Rt. 32 again.
I wanted to finish in under 2hrs, and I did. This 40 year old woman who I had just pasted within 100 yards of the finish, sprinted in just ahead of me. So, my bib number "137" did not match my finishing place "138".
I had a overall pace of 9:08 per mile. The winner had a pace of 5:21!
McMansions have found their way to Monson, I see. There are some behemoths out there, south of town. A little gaudy, in my opinion. The downtown was quaint and New Englandy. Mem. Hall was pretty cool. A big stone building from 1885 with the casualities from the "war of the Rebellion" engraved in the entrance way and the prerequsite Union soldier statue, on the top of the building on the right turret. Damn.

Right next to it. (Our house is across from the library and right next to a Dentist and a bowling alley (!)
Jackie made me sign an oath in blood I'd never go in there. Used to be called Gill-EEZ (and looked even scarier than it does now)
Moving date is this Sat the 19th... I can probably be there within 30 seconds of the last box being set down in the house... anyone want to meet me there for some drinks and (ahem) local color???
