Interesting it's the green party doing this. I like it. Kerry doesn't have to demand the recount, but it gets done anyway... How close will Ohio get? 30,000 votes?

In other "we're using all of our money in the most effective way possible" news, Nader has ordered (and paid for out of his own pocket) a recount in NH.... Or maybe he likes to help further open the door for voter fraud.... http://www.sacbee.com/content/opinion/national/will/story/11173926p-12089967c.html I think, echoing a past post of mine, its not as simple as "counting every vote" When you go to a bank, you fill out a form to open an acct. If you dont put in yr ssn or name or forget to check the right box, theyre not gonna set up an acct for you. Every American that has a right to vote absolutely should, but every voter does have a responsibility to find out what is required of them to cast an effective vote. You cant blame it on Karl Rove or some canvassing committee. Provisional ballotting and "making every vote count" are good ideas in theory, but leave the system open for waaaaay to much fraud... _______________________________ “The outer space beings are my brothers. They aren't asking to get malformed ballots counted! They're asking to get legitimate, correctly-filled-out-by-registered-voters ballots counted. Will's article focuses on voter turnout malfeasance un-related to provisional balloting.

Be that as it may, do you think this is going to make a whole lot of difference at this point? Say for the sake of argument Kerry won Ohio... Wouldn't the electoral votes be tied then? Would it be such a bad idea to ask people to try to accept the results and try to move forward as ONE group of Americans? _______________________________ “The outer space beings are my brothers. Um... no. 286 for Bush 252 for Kerry Take 20 from Bush and give 'em to Kerry. 266-272 ain't a tie. I personally don't think the results will change. Where's the harm in a recount? It's legal, and it's being paid for. Thought this was a capitalistic society...

No. Bush had 286 to Kerry's 252... move Ohio's 20 votes and Kerry has 272 to Bush's 266. However, Kerry has a lot less ground to stand on than Gore did 4 years ago, since he got spanked in the popular vote, which is why I'm glad he's not the one calling for the recount.

I believe Rove was simply challenging the black vote in Cinci and Cleveland rock city, and I do blame him for his racist act. These people filled out ballots correctly, yet they had a Republican challenge their vote because they were black. Proven here by the fact that Ohio's provisionals were mostly over 2/3s legit.

Thanks for the electoral vote tally clarification. I certainly stand corrected. I would also agree any recount of unanimous votes would be fine. I probably jumped on this subject a little too quickly thinking it was "provisional" balloting (which you all know I am not a big fan of.) Have fun tonite ladies and gents :) _______________________________ “The outer space beings are my brothers. They sent me here. They already know my music.” --SUN RA

Why are you so against provisional ballots? If Joe Schmoe stood in line at your polling place, and challenged your vote simply because you were white and/or you had the last name Ladew, forcing you to fill out a provisional ballot, you would not be upset? I would be upset if you were not upset!!! We must demand democracy and the most accurate vote tally. "Oh well, I guess my vote doesn't count this time." What the hell is that attitude? Rove has been using challenges for political gain, not for accuracy. Provisional ballots make the vote counts more accurate.

I know what is required of me for my vote to be succesfully counted other people should too without blaming vast conspiricies... "Oh well, I guess my vote doesn't count this time." how about "Oh well Next Time I Will Vote In The District I Signed Up To Vote In" If it is PURELY skin color discrimination and there is solid PROOF that voters have legit rights to vote @ that polling place, yr damn right that would upset me. What Im against is making these voting rules looser and looser and looser. you open the door for too many lawsuits, conspiracy theories, laying blame on others etc... _______________________________ “The outer space beings are my brothers.
