are you expecting an argument from that last statement from the perspective of an "artistic statement"? Aside from the fact Lucas made both of these, its pretty difficult to talk about THX and Star Wars together (i.e apples and oranges:) -THX is a film for adults with abstract concepts such as the lizard in the machinery being an analogy to Robert Duval's anomaly of resisting control of the totalitarian government. THX was the offspring of the late 60's/ early 70's 'Film School' era when Lucas was direct peers (and classmates) w/ Coppola / Depalma / Scorsese. These guys all made personal statements AND found a way to have major studios fund their labors of love... -: Starwars is strictly popcorn adventure with a few watered down myths for good measure... Star Wars succeeded on the Heels of Jaws and helped to define the "Summer event" Movie. I think from day one Lucas has tried w/ Star Wars to reach as wide an audience as possible (while also trying to be as commercially succesful as possible). I think he has been vastly succesful with this. Having said that, I look forward to Mr. Lucas going back to making smaller, more personal films (which he claims to want to do after EP III and Indiana Jones 4 are done... we'll see..) _______________________________

Dork Alert! I began reading the novelazation of 'Revenge Of The Sith' last night... I saw the Jimmy Smits action figure at Target. My wife wisely told me to put it back and I reluctantly agreed...
