Interesting. I'm sure Wikipedia would help areas w/o the web, but it (almost) defeats the purpose.

Actually, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion#History">onion</a> may have its origins around or even before 5000 BC where its' first documented use was by the Palestinians...
