I'm making latkes with chanterelle/bacon/scallion white wine sauce...
This is so wrong.

Mmm, chanterelles... bacon...

The missing ingredient: brie.

I agree. That is so very treif. (Not kosher.)
Posted by tgl on 2005-11-07 19:10:45 +0000
Huh. I would have guessed treif was sort of French slang for terrifique!

I'm going to go with gorganzola or swiss over brie here... bacon & mushrooms?
Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-11-07 19:22:41 +0000
Damn, gorgonzola would've been perfect!
Sorry, Miriam.
(hangs head in shame)

I wanted to make orange chicken to go with them, but what with the bird flu... I know, I know. Bad Pam.

Make Orange Bacon instead. Mmmmmm.

No sweat to me. I'm vegetarian...the non-kosher part is a non-issue!
Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-11-07 20:27:17 +0000
Mmmmmmmmmmmm orange bacony goodness.

I totally had treif as a boggle word this weekend, and was denied!
I feel totally vindicated now.

Would be so cool to invite you & Jackie over for dinner sometime... :-)

Well, it is yiddish, or is it hebrew? Probably both.
I was just thinking about boggle last night! Crazy. Was considering playing a game of it alone...but that seemed too pathetic. Besides, I love competition like that.
Posted by Honar the librarian on 2005-11-08 18:21:00 +0000
Yeah, but I bet the kids would have accepted putz, or klutz.
Please don't play boggle alone by yourself. It's just not right.

I held back. Thought about calling my grandma to play, but it might be too loud for her. Thought about my neice or nephew, but they still pretty young and are just learning some vocab and spelling. Then again, they might learn something! Next time it's 10pm and I want to play boggle, I'll put it off until the next afternoon.

just learning some vocab and spelling
Or, they might just swallow and choke on the little wooden letters.
PS. I hate boggle because of the noise, just like your grandma.
(or maybe I hate the noise because older sister was soooo good at it?)

Thank you mama, for making me gold pants...

Just call me big sis! I used to play with my suite-mates in college at 3am when we were in desparate need of a study break. I was usually neck-deep in Arabic homework and they were all about neurochemistry. It was fun to try and be quiet with the cubes so we didn't wake up our roomies with easier classes.
