Tornado, Tornahdo
Last night was scary. The Tornado Watch I woke up to turned into several intense thunderstorms converging on my new fair city, along with a bunch of tornados that sailed through town.
I spent most of the evening watching the weather reports from my hallway. Got a little jittery. There was a ton of lightning, and some extremely loud thunder. The rain was torrential. Glad it's over. This is the second bout of tornados since I've been here. Luckily they weren't as damaging as the ones that ripped through downtown and the surrounding areas in 1999.
Insurance adjustors will be in touch with me in a few days; I'm sure there are others with way worse damage. I'm going to check my attic for leaks when I get home. Definitely not excited about that; the attic is also scary, but in more of a hot and spidery and creaky way.
G lib, I don't think we're in for anything of the sort when you and your mom get to Nashville! But, if we do, my hallway is very cozy and my neighbor used to work for the power company...so we wouldn't be in the dark for long.
The tornado was one of the BBC's top stories tonight, with many mentions of the devestation of TN. Some houses & businesses were completely flattened - it's mind-blowing.
