Work. I should be doing work so I can leave and drive to Knoxville before the highway over the Cumberland Plateau gets gnarled with traffic. Thanksgiving is for turkeys.

Does "Narnia #1" mean The Lion, the Witch etc., or The Magician's Nephew? It all depends which edition you're reading. I just read "The Magician's Nephew" the weekend before last, for the first time in several years. Definitely the weakest of the series, I'd say, though it has some good bits.

LWW. I enjoyed the story. The the blend of Christian and pagan mythology is well done, not belabored. It's definitely a children's book. I don't think anyone has claimed otherwise, but I don't think it reaches the level of "literary masterpiece". We'll reserve that for Tolkien's Ring Trilogy, maybe; if we are talking about literature with a Christian message to impart. Maybe I should reserve judgement until I've read all seven. As I paged through I was trying to decide how the book could fit in with the images from the trailer I've seen. Lewis doesn't get bogged down elaborative scene descriptions or battle scenes, does he?

The enormous Christian bookstore on Broadway as you're heading into downtown Nashville has a lame but large Narnia display. All is says is Narnia, over and over again. Thanksgiving is for turkeys.

I just started reading "Light Years" about an Israeli woman and her experiences in the Army and at UVA. Pretty good. I'm supposed to introduce the author to a bunch of teens next Sunday when I get of the plane from Beantown. Thanksgiving is for turkeys.
