Incontinence

So, Ovlov, my 20 year old Volvo 240 GL (which I've owned for 13 years) needs Depends. Okay, a bottle of Coolant Stop Leak did better, but yesterday I spent much of the intensely hot and humid day trying to plug my leaking radiator, and shopping for another car. Went to Carmax with my bro and sis-in-law and the kids, and found a couple of cars I liked. A Nissan Maxima, a Saturn L200, and a Mazda 626. Anyone have suggestions of makes/models/years? Where to shop for a used car? Within the next two weeks I hope to find something!

You need a young person's car. A few suggesions: 1. A huge 70s boat with longhorns attached to the hood 2. A classic beetle 3. A zippy Honda civic in purple 4. A 'smart' car-- the kind you can park sideways 5. An 80s pickup 6. Some kind of Subaru 7. A Mini, either old or new.

i just bought an '02 honda crv. it is one of the purchases i have made that has made me the happiest, hopefully not sounding too dorky about it.

Still a Sport-ute, but one that I can understand the appeal of.

my 14 year old ford escort "the bitch" just died as well - im shopping for a new (2nd hand under 1,000 pound) car, options so far are: 1. Saab 900 - going to test drive one tomorrow 2. BMW 318 - dont think i can get this as every BMW driver is a wanker and cyclist killer (BMW motorbikes excluded) 3. Audi something or other - Audi driver are just BMW drivers with fewer anger management issues, not sure if this would work 4. MkII Golf GTI - bit of a chavmobile but fun to drive 5. something non european.... any suggestions?

Crown Vic. Especially if you can get a decomissioned cop car.

My fella drives a BMW e30 touring car. And a very rusty old Schwinn.

What's a chavmobile?

Might have access to a brand new Volvo with 630 miles on it for $10K...it's in Cali, but a friend might be able to hook me up with it. The pics look good. I may have him check it out for me.

Convertibles are fun. And sometimes they look pretty. But if you buy a Mustang, people will tell you that you own a muscle car (they typically don't ask you to flex, which is a plus) and your car will handle corners poorly.

aint no crown vics in the UK - had one pick me up from JFK once for a job interview in Stamford, Conn - bit of a tank of a car.... our corners arent that big over here, never mind our parking spaces

July's Chav of the month is priceless. and the arguments over them are even better.

OH MY GOD!!! I didn't know it could get any better than the pictures, but it does... What they Say

take a look The only problem seems to be the hit to the trunk. Trying to figure out if the frame was damaged. If not, I may have found my new car!

I took a cab from the Montreal Airport last summer, and was totally thrown off-kilter by the fact that it was a Dodge Stratus. It never occured to me that a cab could be something other than a Crown Vic. Only partially related... my mom was a cabbie when I was first born. Found out this weekend that her cab was a '71 Plymouth Satellite... same year and model as my current car. Small world, big trunk.

That's FUCKING AWESOME!

I'm too late. It sold today for $8700.

"Small world, big trunk" rules.

Convertibles are for girls, unless they're roadsters, in which case they're for middle aged men. Mustangs are pony cars, not muscle cars. There's an RX7 for sale down the street from me.

bought a Saab 900 in the end 1997, 105k miles, full saab service history, stealthy black bargained him down to 925 quid from 1400 asking price, I dont think he was prepared for the combined assault of 2 shipbrokers in full on attack mode

Another one's coming up for sale on Thursday...we'll see what happens. May need more work. Almost bought a '99 Infinity...I think they're asking too much for it, but it was a sweet ride with a sunroof and a Bose sound system. Definitely a step up from Ovlov's fast forward/eject cassette stereo with the one moderately working speaker.

Damian has one, for whatever that's worth.

I like the one that looks like a box.

Posted by Miriam on 2006-07-14 21:32:29 +0000
I'd get the one with the hatchback. Looks like I'm going to test drive everything with a motor this weekend.

Forget the car search for now. I got Ovlov repaired yesterday for $397: a/c fixed, new water pump, new timing belt, new radiator (because I put Stop Leak in it when it wasn't needed). Hooray for reasonable prices and 5+ hours at a mom and pop repair shop!
