07/16/06: Wilco live @ Florence, MA Look Park's Pines Theater

Setlist: -Via Chicago -? New Song (What Light) -Late Greats - I Am Trying To Break Your Heart -Hell Is Chrome Jeff Tweedy / Crowd interplay: An audience member gives Jeff a Pecan Pie. Jeff proceeds to haze Nels Cline into eating said pie to make sure it isn't laced with acid -Handshake Drugs -War on War -? (unknown to this listener - 'Impossible Germany, Unlikely Japan') - A Shot In The Arm -At Least That's What You Said -Jesus, Etc. -Walken Jeff Tweedy's beer solioquy -Theologians -I am the Man Who Loves You Antics with a headband -Hummingbird Encore 1: -New Song unknown to this listener (Let's Fight)"You know you know you owe me nothing" -Misunderstood -Wishful Thinking -Spiders (Kidsmoke) Encore 2: -Airline to Heaven -Heavy Metal Drummer -Kingpin -Far Far Away A really bad photo I took and a brief review to follow shortly. Bottom line: Nels Cline is one bad motherfucker and Jeff Tweedy is a goofball. (Who is starting to look like a caveman with full beard - Photo taken in Ottawa the night before the show I went to):

I know: not the best photo, but hey what do you want from me? I wanted to sit and chill on the lawn barefoot with my wife. Besides: did you see how scary that Cro-Magnon Ottawa close-up of Tweedy was? The lanky guy in black @ far left is Nels Cline, one of the best guitar player around right now IMHO. 'Handshake Drugs' was his shining moment although 'Spiders (Kidsmoke)' was right up there. Awesome show. WAY too hot though. Nice that parks like this have non-Don Law / Live Nation / Clear Channel events from time to time. Im not all political about it, just saying it is refreshing not to have Pontiac logos adorning the stage with a jumbotron telling me to go to Mc_____. Also nice that it wasnt in a hockey arena or a dark nightclub. The sound for an outdoor event was superb. (another surprise) If you have a chance to go to a live show @ Look Park Pines Theater in Florence Ma (really in Northampton I think) you should jump at the chance...

MF, I would like to respond to your Wilco post, but don't really know anything about them and haven't heard them. However, I love outdoor concerts, picnicing, putting out blankets, ect. Looks like you and the Jackster had fun!

Would you accept a wilco mix as an early wedding present?

A double disc set has been in the works (ahem at least in my mind, young padawan) for a while now... I will e-mail y'alls off list soon. My reccomendations (in prioritized order) 1.Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 2.Kicking Television 3.Being There / A Ghost is Born (2 way tie) 4.Summerteeth *The new Loose Fur album (Jeff Tweedy / Glen Kotchke / Jim O'Rourke) is pretty off the hook... mebbe a third disc of side projects.... hmmm. gotta go now. there are some men from the FBI and the RIAA that want to talk to me...
