Cecil Taylor and (RIP) - John Zorn's Masada
After 14 years, the performances of the Masada Quartet @ Jazz @ Lincoln Center's Rose Theater in NYC this past weekend are some of its very last (maybe a few more European dates?).
The concert, historic in its own right for being Masada's USA finale, were also landmark for the fact that avant garde / fire / creative / experimental / avant garde / whatever / musics were actually being allowed into the house that Wynton Marsalis built and the performance also saw the debut of a new trio 'AHA 3' fronted by Cecil Taylor.

Today's NYT piece is <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/13/arts/music/13ceci.html?_r=1&oref=slogin">here</a>, DÜ's review to follow soon.
Work has been super busy - I am still planning on writing my take on this when it lets up a bit (unless of course I hear violent protestations to the contrary)
